| The owner of this hotel contacted us requesting we put in a camera system in his upstairs bar which was only used on Thursday to Saturday, on monitoring the recording we found a team of 5 staff member barmen who were under ringing goods into the till, they would then remove the excess money and put it into the tips jar always leaving the till balanced. Later one of them would then remove the coins from the pint glass which was tips jar, and put them into the till he would then remove notes which were then put into the tips jar. The manager would then remove the notes which would be divided, between the bar staff this would total approx £500 per shift. In total this loss amounted to £85,000 in a year, which near put hotel out of business. |
