| Retailer that had been contacted for 2-3 years in relation to services that we provided, investigations and ongoing monitoring.
This customer asked that we install a rental package as he believed he had an elderly a member of staff stealing, as he knew that she was giving cigarettes with no payment to her neighbour. 3 days after the installation we received phone call from owner asking us to attend his premises immediately as he had watched this elderly female for a full morning and had identified that she had given over £220 worth of stock out to at least 6 local neighbours. The staff member who was stealing was not benefiting herself but the owner knew his margins were down by £30k per year.
On interview this lady admitted giving away stock in excess of £70k to local neighbours, her son got involved and £25,000 was paid back to owner, but the local neighbours who were receiving the goods got off.
