| This is major car Components Company located in Belfast. During a visit to the shop we convinced the retailer to install a security system, if only to check his staff. He said he didn’t believe he had any problems. After installation and monitoring we very quickly found that one male staff member was stealing around £40 per shift, we consulted with owner and showed him the video footage. The owner was shocked because this staff member had been with him for over 30 years. After interview the male member of staff admitted £40 per shift, during this consultation the owner produced from his top drawer a small tear off calendar slip and said that 15 years ago he had caught this member of staff stealing from him, but did not know how to deal with it. During the interview the calendar slip was produced to the staff member being interviewed, he admitted that he had been stealing for over well over 15 years and when added up the figure was well in excess of over £150k,. This staff member did not want the police involved, and said that he would sort things out with his employer. He went and remorgaged his house and within four weeks paid back half back approx £75k, his reason for stealing was that his brother in law was partner in this business over 15 years ago, and at that time they fell out and this was his way of getting him back. |
